The Virtual Financial Aid Disbursements and R2T4 Specialist will be responsible for processing Return to Title IV (R2T4) and disbursing Title IV funds to eligible students. This person will work closely with a small team of Remote Financial Aid Officers and other personnel that perform the following tasks:
- Gathering and reviewing required student documents.
- Processing Federal Student Aid including awarding, packaging, certifying, and verification.
- Performing Return of Title IV aid calculations.
- Processing Title IV refunds.
This person will occasionally need to interact with students, families, and schools and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the financial aid process for our customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to schools, students, and families by promptly responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
- Determine eligibility requirements, application procedures and deadlines.
- Financial counseling to students to explain their financial aid estimates and offers.
- Ensure appropriate documents are being requested based on regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure timely and accurate disbursements of Title IV funds.
- Perform and provide documentation of Institutional Calculations, Return of Title IV aid calculations and Exit Counseling to students, parents, and schools.
- Reporting on behalf of an institution to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and requirements.
- Assist in financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial aid data and records.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain knowledge and skills ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the financial aid process is integrated into the overall student experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with financial aid management and student information systems; preferably Fame’s Freedom, Freedom FinAid, Advantage, and Advantage FinAid applications
- Associate degree, in a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, or business administration or relevant experience
- At least 3 years of experience working in financial aid administration, including packaging awards, and performing drop calculations (institutional refunds and Return to Title IV)
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with schools, students, families, and staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
